Get started with WorkBC and OES
Are you new to WorkBC or Online Employment Services (OES)? Find out how to get started.
There are two steps involved in getting access to OES:
What you need
To access Online Employment Services, you need to confirm your identity. You can use one of these forms of B.C. government ID:
By using one of these IDs, your information and privacy are protected and your access to OES is secure.
Once you’ve obtained a Basic BCeID or BC Services Card, you need to register for OES.
We will need some of your personal information, such as:
- Birthdate
- Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Your information is protected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA).
Register and sign in with Basic BCeID
The Basic BCeID account is used to sign in to online services with just a username and password. You can apply for a Basic BCeID online in minutes by providing some personal information.
You may already have a Basic BCeID if
- you applied for income and disability assistance programs and services in B.C.
- you applied for the Affordable Child Care Benefit
- you booked an appointment online to visit a Service BC Centre
Register for OES
Once you have a Basic BCeID, you can register for OES right away.
Register nowRegister and sign in with a BC Services Card
The BC Services Card provides access to many government services for B.C. residents. This includes services that are available online.
You may already have a BC Services Card
- if you have B.C. public health insurance through the Medical Services Plan (MSP)
- if you access your health information online through Health Gateway or Island Health
- if you applied for a student loan through StudentAid BC
Register for OES
To register for OES using your BC Services card, you need to complete the following steps:
- Download the BC Services Card app on your mobile device
-
Complete the app setup by:
(a) using the verify-by-video feature in the app, OR
(b) verifying in person by visiting a Service BC location - Use the app to verify your identity during OES registration
After your register
Once you’ve registered for Online Employment Services, you will need to complete an application for a service.
You should continue to use your Basic BCeID or your BC Services Card and the app every time you sign in to OES.
